What is My Real Body Clock?

A scientific method to discover your actual biological schedule, far beyond simple morning/evening questionnaires.

🔬

How does it differ from standard surveys?

Most online biological clock tests ask subjective questions like "When do you prefer to wake up?"

However, the Munich ChronoType Questionnaire (MCTQ), designed by Professor Till Roenneberg and his team at LMU Munich, relies on objective quantitative metrics. It tracks actual sleep onset, wake times, and latency separately for work days and free days.

By taking into account the sleep debt accumulated during the work week and correcting for weekend sleep compensation, the MCTQ isolates your true, genetically determined mid-sleep point ($MSF_{sc}$).

Misalignment of Social and Biological Time: Social Jetlag

Social Jetlag refers to the difference between your sleep schedule on work days and free days.

Formula: Social Jetlag (SJL) = |Mid-Sleep Free Days - Mid-Sleep Work Days|

For instance, if you sleep at 11:30 PM and wake at 6:30 AM on weekdays (mid-sleep at 03:00 AM), but sleep at 01:30 AM and wake at 09:30 AM on weekends (mid-sleep at 05:30 AM), your Social Jetlag is 2.5 hours. This mimics the physiological strain of traveling across 2.5 time zones every single weekend, disrupting your master clock.
